This course is for young people who have left school with few or no qualifications or who have been out of education for some time and wish to improve their skills to move on in life and learning.

Course Content

The course will increase learner confidence and allow learners to focus on existing skills and raise awareness of the transferability of these skills for progression into college and employment.  This course will focus on developing nationally recognised qualifications in:

  • communication skills - written and spoken
  • number skills
  • personal development
  • skills for employment.

There are also optional vocational subjects:

  • As the programme develops there will be opportunities to experience working environments, and investigate vocational and employment options.

This can lead to one of our vocational courses or into employment.

How will I be assessed?

You will have a short assessment to help us find out about your level of skill in English and Number. This is not a test but a way of helping us place you on the correct level course.

What qualifications do I need?

You will need to attend a short interview and assessment.  Do not worry if you have not been at school for a while or have no qualifications.  We will talk with you and work with you to make sure you are on the right course.
