As an installation electrician you would fit, test and repair the electrical circuits and wiring found in homes and organisations. Your work may involve jobs such as fitting a kitchen circuit in a private home to laying the cabling in a business development.

Hairdressers cut and style customer'shair. Their work can include giving advice and suggesting styles, shampooing and conditioning, cutting and styling, colouring, perming or straightening, advising on minor hair and scalp problems, making appointments and handling payments and ordering materials.

Motor vehicle technicians find and identify mechanical faults using electronic testing equipment, advise on repairs including a time and cost estimate, carry out the work including replacing defective parts and perform routine servicing and checks.

Painters and decorators perform different jobs including re-decorating houses to applying finishes to structures like the Tyne Bridge. On a household job painters and decorators use paint, varnishes and wallpaper to decorate rooms. They follow the customer's requests for colour, finishing texture and choice of wallpaper.

A plumber's work mainly includes installing, servicing and repairing hot and cold water supplies, heating systems and drainage networks. Tasks vary from job to job these may include ensuring an organisation gets clean drinking water, or making sure there is heating in a family home.
