Adult Full-time Students Aged 19+

Studying Further Education Courses

Tuition fees are not payable if:

1.   You are studying for your first level 2 qualification (equivalent to GSCE level), or

2.   You are under 25 years of age and are studying for your first level 3 qualification (equivalent to A2 level).

OR

3.   You are in receipt of a means tested qualifying benefit/tax benefit.  For further details on types of benefits covered see the College Access Fund Policy

A fee of £350 for the academic year 2010/11 is payable in all other circumstances, however the College will look to support you where the payment of a fee would prevent you from coming to College, this is supported through the College's Access Fund. You would have to make a declaration to this effect and may have to show proof of your household income.

Studying Higher Education Courses

The College has decided not to charge the maximum full time fee, the current fee for all full-time programmes is £2,965 for the academic year 09/10. For most higher education courses we will give a non-means tested bursary of £1,000 for the academic year 10/11. View details on how to apply for a bursary click here.

If you are in receipt of a tuition fee grant or any type of tuition fee student loan, payments will be made directly to the College by the Student Loans Company or the appropriate bank. Where there is a difference between the amount charged for your course and the grant or loan you receive, you will be expected to pay the difference on enrolment.

If you are paying your fees yourself, you can either:

Pay in instalments as follows:

October 2010 - 1/3 of total fee
January 2011 – 1/3 of total fee
April 2011 – 1/3 of total fee

If a payment is rejected a £5 fee per transaction will be added to your account. Alternatively you can pay the full amount upfront when you enrol.

Instalments are arranged through the finance office at the College, they can be contacted on (0191) 375 4068 or email income@newdur.ac.uk.

Adult Part-time Students Aged 19+

Studying Further or Higher Education Courses

The fees for part-time programmes are detailed on the fees list, as different fees apply to different courses. Please refer to the  Fees and How to Pay section for the appropriate fee for your course, this can also be accessed using the icon on the left hand navigation.

You must have financial arrangements in place to pay your fees at enrolment, using any of the methods detailed below:

  • If you are being sponsored or your employer is paying for your course, you will need to provide a signed and dated letter from your employer/sponsor on their company letterhead, which clearly states their intention to pay for your course. We will then invoice your employer/sponsor directly for your fees.
  • If you are paying your fees yourself, the College offers an instalment plan as follows:
  1. invoice amounts up to and including £200; 100% payment is requested on enrolment.
  2. invoice amounts between £201 - £550; a 20% deposit is requested on enrolment, with the balance to be paid in equal instalments over the first three months of the academic year.
  3. invoice amounts in excess of £550; a 20% deposit is requested on enrolment, with the balance to be paid in equal instalments over the first six months of the academic year.
  4. If you wish to pay in instalments, you will be required to complete and sign a Direct Debit mandate as part of the acceptance of instalment payments. An administration charge of £5 per instalment will be charged if payments are rejected.
