New College Durham brings you Flex & Travel for full-time further education students from September 2010.
 

 
Welcome to Flex & Travel

Are you over 19 years when you start your course?

If you are over 19 years at the start of your full-time further education course, New College Durham may reimburse the cost of your bus tickets.


All students will need to meet the College’s qualifying requirements of:

•           Attending a full-time further education course

•           Living at least 2 miles from the College

•           Having an attendance record of 90% or greater

•           Having a satisfactory tutor report and being up-to-date
            with all course work/assignments

•           Having satisfactory behaviour

In addition to meeting these College qualifying requirements you will also need to have a household income below £20,817.  The College will only make payment(s) each term up to the cost of a termly ticket.

Getting started

Your first step should be to contact your chosen bus operator where you can purchase your travel ticket and plan your journey. Click here for details.

Getting here by car

From A1(M) Northbound

Leave the A1 at Junction 62 (signed Durham, A690 and Consett).

  • At the roundabout at the top of the slip road, join the A690 (Carville Link Road) towards Durham.
  • At the roundabout junction with the A181, take the third exit and proceed downhill to next roundabout and go straight ahead across the bridge.
  • At the traffic lights turn right onto the A691.
  • Continue under the railway bridge and at the next roundabout, join the B6532.
  • At the next roundabout turn left.
  • Continue straight over the next roundabout.
  • The college campus is the first turning on the right (see inset).

From A1(M) Southbound

  • Leave the A1(M) at Junction 63 (signed Chester-le-Street & A167).
  • At the roundabout at the bottom of the slip road, join the A167 towards Durham.
  • Remain on the A167 over 4 roundabouts (passing ‘The Riverside’ cricket ground on the left).
  • At the fifth roundabout, take the second exit onto Front Street and
    continue to the roundabout junction with the B6532.
  • Turn right at the roundabout onto the B6532 and the college campus is located on the right (see inset).

Durham receives services from Newcastle, Darlington, York, London and Edinburgh.
