BBC's Jeff Brown visits Media Students

BBC Look North anchorman, Jeff Brown, visited the BTEC Media Students at New College Durham to speak about his road to success in the industry.  Jeff, who previously worked in sports journalism, spoke to the students and offered tips on how to do a good interview and how to present well to the camera.  He showed the students some examples of his own interviews to help illustrate the points and also offered advice on the types of questions to ask and how to be natural on camera.

Media lecturer Mary MacLeod – an ex colleague of Jeff’s at Tyne Tees Television - said: “Its a marvellous opportunity for the students to have first hand advice and someone like Jeff, who has a high profile in local television, is a great inspiration to the students.”

New College Durham offers a range of practical media programmes providing students with an excellent preparation for a career in the media industry.  Students study subjects such as video production, film and television, radio production and sound recording.  The media lecturers have a lot of contacts in the media industry and students work on live briefs with industry professionals.
