Durham Apprentice honoured in national competition
Durham MP, Roberta Blackman-Woods, paid a visit to New College Durham on Monday 10 November 2008 at 9.30am, to honour former student and UK SkillPlumb Champion, Christopher Lonsdale, following his win at the SummitSkills UK Plumbing Championships at the Birmingham NEC.
Christopher, 21, beat nine other competitors from across the UK, who each participated in two and a half days of practical skills testing. He may now represent the UK in the world final, which takes place in Canada in 2009.
Christopher completed his four year Apprenticeship at New College Durham in July 2008 and now works full time for B-Warm Heating and Gas in Bishop Auckland.
