New College Durham officially launched a new recycling initiative on Monday 21st April for all it’s staff and students. The college has invested over £10,000 on 52 new recycling bins, which will be placed throughout the college and its grounds, to recycle cans, plastic bottles, paper, glass and plastic cups. It has been calculated that in an average week staff and students at New College Durham use 4,000 cans, 4,000 bottles and 4,000 cups. The college already recycles materials such as wood, metals, bricks, paper, cardboard, toner cartridges and mobile phones.
John Graydon, Head of Estates and Facilities at New College Durham said: “It is New College Durham’s Sustainability Year this year and we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and promoting sustainability as an established part of college life."
