Music students get Unplugged at The Sage Gateshead

Talented music students at New College Durham presented a live and acoustic “Unplugged” performance at the prestigious Sage Gateshead on Friday 7 December.

Almost 40 second year students from the BTEC National Diploma in Music gave a wide range of classic songs the “unplugged” treatment, from Murder on the Dance Floor by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, to We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel, Go your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac, to Bohemian Like You by The Danny Warhols and I Shot the Sheriff by Bob Marley to the chart-topping Umbrella by Rihanna.

Mark Deeks, Course Leader for Music at New College Durham, said: “This was the fifth time that our music students had performed at The Sage Gateshead.  We featured songs from the last 40 years so there was something for everyone.  This exclusive one-off performance was an excellent night not to be missed.”

The students performed in Hall 2 at The Sage, Gateshead which provided an intimate in-the-round setting, ideal for acoustic performances.
