News about global warming and its impact on the environment is everywhere. As a College we take our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment very seriously and sustainability issues are high on our agenda.
Various energy efficiency measures, including good housekeeping measures, are being implemented to further reduce the overall electricity usage.
Long term improvements for further energy efficiency are to be looked at within the next 5 years:
- Demand management based on use. Installation of CO2 monitoring devices to control electrical switching based on occupancy levels this would allow electrical fan units to classroom/corridors etc to be switched off when not required.
- Installation of additional window actuators to automatically open and close windows when required eg Sports Centre main entrance reception area. Linked to the Building Energy Management System (BEMS).
