News about global warming and its impact on the environment is everywhere. As a College we take our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment very seriously and sustainability issues are high on our agenda.

Energy Usage

The energy efficiency of the Framwellgate Moor Campus buildings is largely determined by the following features:

Use of passive engineering techniques to reduce heat gains
Heat recovery systems
Use of condensing boilers
Use of dry air coolers
Use of low energy, high frequency lighting
Use of pressure detectors and perimeter daylight detection for lighting control
Actuator controls for opening windows to library and LRC
Computerised Building Energy Management System controls
