Sustainability
News about global warming and its impact on the environment is everywhere.
As a College we take our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment very seriously and sustainability issues are high on our agenda.
Paper
We have confidential waste recycling boxes which are shredded by a specialist contractor, blue wheelie bins which are moved to a larger recycling bin and a compactor and bailing machine.
Paper and Cardboard Usage
Steps are currently being implemented to reduce the amount of paper usage such as the Electronic Data Record Management (EDRM) electronic payslips and email.
Glass
Glass is currently collected in a recycling bin from the training kitchen by estates and transferred to a larger recycling bin.
Re-use before Recycling
Furniture and appliance re-use charities currently pass on 1.5 million items to families on low incomes each year. The College has recently worked with the Red Cross, Mind and the Salvation Army in the free disposal of various items.
