Foundation Studies Courses

 

 

 
 

Our Foundation Studies Courses are for students who have little or no qualifications; require additional support during the transition from school to college or those who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

 

Aged 16 - 18

Steps4Success (S4S)

If you are aged between 16 and 18 years old and not sure which direction you want to go in, then the Steps4Success (S4S) programme could be for you.  The course is designed for young people who aren't already in education, employment or training.  It gives you the opportunity to sample a range of subjects and work towards qualifications whilst also developing your personal and social skills in order to prepare you for further study or work.

Pathways

The Pathways programme is a course for young people who need some additional learning support and don't feel ready to join a mainstream course.  We will support you to improve your basic skills in English or Maths, as well as develop personal and social skills.  You can achieve qualifications in Functional Skills, Employability Skills and Personal Development.

Spectrum

The Spectrum programme is designed for young people who may need support in their transition from school into College life.  The course is aimed specifically at learners with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC); those who have been taught outside the school environment or who have a specific learning need.

Essential Skills

The Essential Skills programme is designed for young people who are leaving school or a specialist college and need supported transition into College life.  The course is aimed at students with moderate or severe learning disabilities or those with complex learning needs.  The course will help learners to develop independent living skills and improve confidence within a supportive learning environment.

Aged 19+

Step-Up

The Step-Up programme is a course designed for adults over 19 years old who have a learning difficulty and/or disability.  Additional learning support is built in to the programme with Learning Support Assistants available both in and out of class.  Learners can work towards qualifications in Personal and Social Development, Independent Living Skills as well as further develop their Functional Skills in English, Maths or ICT.
