Overview

This course is perfect for those wishing to pursue a career within the ever expanding make-up industry.

You will develop an understanding of how to apply make-up to different skin tones, to create a desired effect. Working with professional products and tools, you will gain the essential knowledge needed to work with different skin types to create different occasion looks.

You will gain hands-on experience in our on-site salon, where you will apply your knowledge to real clients.

Our hair and beauty students recently attended Professional Beauty North in Manchester.

Aims

This qualification aims to provide learners with the skills to apply a wide range of makeup products, to different skin tones and age groups, for a variety of occasions. You will study how to create professional looks for day, evening and special occasions. You will learn how to apply make up on various skin types; normal, dry, oily, combination and various skin conditions: sensitive, mature, dehydrated.

You will study the following modules:
  • Maintain Effective Health, Safety and Hygiene Procedures
  • Cleanse the Skin Prior to Make-up Application
  • Apply Make-up to support the Objective of the Treatment and Supply Aftercare Advice.

Teaching & assessment

You will complete written and practical assessments. Practical assessment will be based on observation of performance in on-site salon.

Industry links:

You will explore relevant industry specific techniques as you work with professionals from the industry, such as a MAC trained assessor.

You may gain employment within the make-up industry, in a salon or freelance.

Additional Costs

You will need to purchase a uniform, as a professional dress code will need to be followed at all times - approx. £48.

Interview Instructions

Please fill out an online application form or call into one of the IAG event, your details will be added to the part time file. Closer to the start of your full cost course your tutor will contact you to confirm all starting details. You will be required to make payment for your course on the first evening. Entry Criteria

No formal qualifications are required for this course as it is intended for beginners. This course is suitable for anyone who has a passion and desire for make up or starting a career in hairdressing/beauty therapy. However a good standard of literacy, high level of presentation standards and practical dexterity are necessary.
This qualification is looked upon favourably by cosmetic concessions in department stores, and may enable you to progress in that area.
