Overview

This programme will prepare you for progression within the barbering industry. You will develop the essential skills and knowledge required to perform key barbering services, such as cutting and styling men’s hair, and grooming facial hair.

You will gain valuable hands-on experience working with real clients in our on-site commercial barbering salon.

Delivery

Wednesday:
3pm-4.30pm (Theory) and 5pm-7.30pm (Practical)
*Days and times of study are subject to change. Timetables are confirmed at the start of term.

Teaching & assessment

Learners will be taught by a qualified industry expert for 4 hours per week. Assessments will be completed within the college salons.

You will complete 6 assignments and 9 practical assessments. Assignments will contribute towards evidence in a portfolio.

We have strong links with Habia, WorldSkills and AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Beauty Therapists).

You could gain employment within the barbering industry.

Additional Costs

You will need to purchase a kit: £60 without scissors and £75.75 with scissors.

You can purchase an optional uniform (female=£48/ male=£32), or wear a black pair of trousers and a black top.

You will be invited to attend an induction day. At this stage, you will receive more information about the course and will be able to enrol on the course.

Entry Criteria

You will hold a hairdressing qualification or be working towards one. You will have experience working in a hairdressing salon or barbershop.
