Overview

The Level 2 Spanish follows on from the Foundation level course. It is designed to help you to take your Spanish to the next level.

You will be able to engage in increasingly advanced conversations, express opinions on a wide range of subjects, and cope confidently in everyday situations.

This course will give you not just language skills but also a real feel for Hispanic cultures as it is taught by a qualified tutor who is a native speaker of the language.

Aims

The aim of this course is to enable you to improve existing language skills by building on what you have learnt and developing your language with a variety of activities to help you express yourself more confidently. This engaging approach gives you plenty of opportunity to listen and practise, as well as produce the language yourself.

Modules

The modules will take you through a wide range of practical situations including among others:

[[[Getting to know people~Talking about times you do things~Getting local information and advice to plan activities~Enquiring about accommodation (for renting or holidays)~Finding your way around in town and out of town~Saying what’s happened and what you did~Talking about going on holiday and past holidays~Making and replying to suggestions or/and invitations~Commenting on a meal, showing appreciation.

There will be some study of grammar although the emphasis will be on listening and speaking skills.

Delivery

Day and time of study will be confirmed before the start of your course.

Teaching & assessment

There is an interactive method of teaching and assessment to provide ample opportunities to practise the language in realistic contexts. It is advised to practice when not in class.

Study resources include printed materials; podcasts and video clips featuring recordings by native Spanish speakers; useful websites with a variety of online activities – which support independent learning.

There is no formal examination for this course.

If you wish to take the study of the language further you may be able to progress onto a Level 3 Spanish course.

Entry Criteria

It is expected that to complete the Level 2 course you will already have achieved the standard of Foundation Level or would have some previous experience of the Spanish language.
