Overview

Update your maths skills, improve your career prospects or boost your confidence in using maths with this short course. It is designed for mature students (over the age of 19), and on completion you will gain a national recognised City and Guilds qualification, equivalent to GCSE.

Aims

You can choose from a number of sessions, which take place during the day and/or evening. The length of the course is dependent on your skill level and the level you wish to be assessed at. For some this may be 10 weeks, others may take up to 30 weeks. You will work towards the City and Guilds Functional Maths qualification. This can be studied at different levels:
  • Entry Level 1
  • Entry Level 2
  • Entry Level 3
  • Level 1
  • Level 2.

Delivery

Day and time of study will be confirmed before the start of your course.

Teaching & assessment

Maths will be assessed by completing one assessment paper.

You could progress to an Access to Higher Education programme at New College Durham.
