We offer an Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering pathway to allow you to upskill to progress within your current role.
You will gain an in-depth understanding of engineering principles, science, maths and design. You will complete practical workshop sessions, written reports and presentations.
Entry Criteria
You will hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.
What are the next steps?
You will be required to prepare a personal statement and will attend an interview with a course tutor.
Study Aims
This engineering apprenticeship programme aims to upskill those already working in a maintenance engineering role.
Modules Studied
You will complete five modules in Year 1 at Level 4 and five modules in Year 2 at Level 5. There are two pathways available; Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Teaching and Assessment
Lectures will be delivered on campus using a variety of teaching and assessment strategies, such as:

- Practical workshop sessions

- Academic posters.
You will be expected to submit assessments through our online portal, Schoology, throughout the duration of the programme, in line with the assessment plan.
Industry Links
We work closely with Nissan to deliver the FdEng Maintenance Engineering.
We also have strong links with industry through our Institute of Technology Employer Advisory Boards to ensure our course content remains current and in line with industry needs.
You could progress to a relevant top-up degree at university such as the BEng (Hons) Manufacturing Engineering (Top-up), BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering Top-up degree or BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering Top-up degree subject to the respective universities entry criteria.
Alternatively, you could secure employment within a relevant engineering area
