Cash for College 2013/14

We understand that studying a high quality vocational or academic course requires some extra cash to help you get the essentials for study. That’s why we’ve introduced our student reward ‘Cash for College’. This is to help you get the basics for your course whether its text books, uniforms, professional equipment, stationery, USBs or even a laptop for home study. You can choose to spend your cash on whatever you need. Cash for College will help you to focus on your studies, without the financial worry of getting the necessities for your course.

 

 
Cash Reward
For full-time further education students aged 16-18

To be eligible you need to be attending college regularly, be up to date with your course work and show good behaviour and respect for others.

All full-time students aged 16-18 are eligible for a cash reward
We will make these payments to you in two parts. We will pay your cash reward into your personal bank account; if you haven’t already got a bank account, you will need to set one up.

Application is automatic, no need to apply
Whether you’re new to the College, or you’re a student returning for the second year of your course, we will take your details at enrolment, including your bank details. Payments will be made automatically subject to you meeting the eligibility requirements.

You will qualify for an additional £200 if:
Your annual household income is below £26,000. To apply for your additional £200 cash reward contact the Access Fund Administrator on 0191 375 4205 or email access.fund@newdur.ac.uk.

Bursaries up to £1,200*

If you are under 19 years at the start of your course and are in care, or a care leaver, or in receipt of income support or a disabled young person that receives Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance, under national guidance you will be considered eligible to receive a bursary of up to £1,200* per year.

All students must apply direct to the College for the bursary scheme, contact the Access Fund Administrator on 0191 375 4205 or email access.fund@newdur.ac.uk for an application form.

*This bursary cannot be combined with the Cash for College Rewards. In calculating the bursary, consideration will be taken of benefits already received from the College such as Flex and Travel; the cost of which will be deducted from the bursary.

Cash Reward
For full-time further education students aged 19+

If you are an adult aged 19 or over when you start your full-time course and your annual household income is below £26,000, you may be eligible for a cash reward up to £400 for the academic year. If you qualify you will receive payments in two parts. In calculating the cash reward, consideration will be taken of benefits already received from the College such as reimbursement of travel expenses; the cost of which will be deducted from the cash reward.
