Our clever research friends have said that early years and childcare is a fast growing sector and there is demand for staff at all levels. You could be a healthcare assistant, care assistant, nursery nurse, play worker, primary school teacher, special needs support worker or social work assistant. We’ve been offering childcare courses for fifty years so we’re experts at what we do.
You’ll already have a genuine passion for helping people but we can help you to learn how to relate to others, have tact, patience and learn to work as part of a team as well as on your own.
Anything else I need to know?
Our early years students are a generous bunch and are always participating in, or organising fundraising activities like the Race for Life and helping orphanages abroad. Not only that, they always manage to sweep the board in the College’s annual Equality and Diversity competition too.
As an early years student you can do loads of activities like first aid, sign language and arts and crafts, trips to Flamingoland and Hall Hill Farm. You can also have a go at using our ‘empathy belly’ and ‘virtual babies’, which are cleverly programmed to act like a newborn baby. If you’re really brave you can enjoy an overnight stay with one of our delightful virtual babies!
CRB (Criminal Records Bureau)
Oh and another thing: We do a full enhanced CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check on every student but we are sure your record is as clean as a whistle! You will also need two good references.
