The Sixth Form Centre also participates in the Partners Programme with the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. This scheme involves a range of activities which introduce students to life at university. Students identified from areas where few people progress into higher education are able to receive offers of places, which require lower A-level grades than usual. In return they attend a summer school at the University and need to complete some required assignments. Recently, students form New College Durham achieved the highest marks in the region in these summer schools.
