Full-time Further Education Application Process
It’s never too early to apply for a place. Due to our high level of success and achievement and the popularity of courses, it is essential to get your application in early. After receiving an application form we will normally invite applicants into College to discuss their choices. Following this, an offer may be made on the chosen course, which may be subject to achievement of specified examination results.
Early Application 1
Early application is recommended, particularly if applicants know which course they wish to take. To reduce the risk of disappointment, applicants that would like an early decision, should apply by Friday 2 December 2011.
Early Application 2
It is still possible to recieve an early decision if an application si not made during the first term. Applications must be submitted by Friday 3 February 2012.
Changing course
Making the right choice about what course to do is a difficult decision for some people so of course we understand if a student changes their mind. If a student has applied for a course at the College then decides a different course would be more appropriate they can come and talk to us and discuss what else the College can offer.
Regular Admissions
Our admissions policy is to accept applications as they come in, until all spaces on a particular course have been filled. We accept applications up until the end of June 2012 or until the course is full, whichever comes first. After this the late application procedure commences, where places are limited to certain courses. To have the best chance of being accepted on a chosen course we recommend that applications are in early.
Late applications
This is for applicants who have not secured a place on a course by the end of June 2012. Available from July to end of September 2012 this process can help find a suitable vacancy on a further education course. If applicants are flexible, there is a good chance they will find a place on a course. Applicants are eligible to put in a late application if they do not hold an offer from our College, or have not met entry criteria. Information on courses with available spaces will be displayed on our website, www.newcollegedurham.ac.uk/apply, from July 2012 onwards.
