Fees and how to pay

Students aged 16-18 studying further education do not need to pay fees.  All other students may have to arrange for payment themselves through student finance or via a third party such as an employer. The information below tells you how these should be paid, along with additional information on our fees and refund policies.

Please note, the information on this page relates to academic year 2017/18.

School Leavers aged 16-18 studying further education courses

Tuition fees are not payable if you are aged 16-18 years.

Learners aged 19-23

  • Enrolling on an Entry Level or Level 1 Course, who do not hold a Level 2 qualification or above - Free
  • Enrolling on their first full Level 2 Course - Free
  • Enrolling on their first full Level 3 Course - Free
  • In receipt of JSA, Work Related ESA or Universal Credit (earning less than £330 per month) - Free (for courses below Level 3)
  • In receipt of a state benefit (earning less than £330 per month) and wishing to enter employment - Free (for courses below Level 3)
  • None of the above - Fees are payable

Learners aged 19+

  • For full Level 3* or Level 4 courses - Fees are payable however learners may apply for an Advanced Learning Loan – visit www.gov.uk/advanced-learning-loans or call 0300 100 0619.

*19-23 first full Level 3 – Free

For courses below Level 3

  • In receipt of JSA, Work Related ESA or Universal Credit (earning less than £330 per month) - Free
  • In receipt of a state benefit (earning less than £330 per month) and wishing to enter employment - Free
  • Enrolling on an Entry Level or Level 1 Course, who do not hold a Level 2 or above - Free
  • None of the above - Fees are payable

Any student being supported by an employer or sponsor must provide a letter of authorisation upon enrolment.


Payment terms

Aged 19+ - Fees of up to £200 are to be paid upon enrolment. Fees of £201 and above a 20% deposit is required on enrolment and the balance to be paid in three equal monthly instalments from the start of the course by an Instalment Plan. (Up to six instalments may be available). For courses of less than 3 months shorter terms will apply.


Studying higher education courses

The current fee for students entering a full time higher education programmes for the first time in 2017/18 is £8,200 (with the exception of BA (Hons) Social Work which is £9,000) for the academic year 2017/18. For continuing students the fee is £7,950. Fees for full-time top-up degrees are £8,200 for 2017/18.

If you are in receipt of a tuition fee student loan, payments will be made directly to the College by the Student Loans Company.  Where there is a difference between the amount charged for your course and the loan you receive, you will be expected to pay the difference on enrolment.

If you are paying your fees yourself, you can either:

Pay in three instalments due at the beginning of each term:

25% Term 1
25% Term 2
50% Term 3

If a payment is rejected a £15 fee per transaction will be added to your account.

Alternatively you can pay the full amount upfront when you enrol.

Any student being supported by an employer or sponsor must provide a letter of authorisation upon enrolment.

Full cost courses

  • All fees under £500 must be paid upon enrolment in full or a sponsor/employment letter must be provided. (Instalments may apply for fees above £500)
  • No fee remission is available for full cost courses.
  • No refunds apply unless the College cancels the course.

Non-European Union Students

Please note the information provided on these pages are applicable to UK and European Union nationals only. There is a different fees policy and welfare system for other European and International students.

International fees 2017/18

  • FE students - £7,000
  • HE students (General) - £8,450
  • HE students (Podiatry) - £9,525
  • Module fees will be calculated pro rata from the full-time fee
