Our ASC team are here to help if you have questions about student finance, careers or future study options or would you like help with job applications.

They also offer counselling support if you are worried about any personal issues including mental health.

You can even use our ASC team before you join the college. If you are thinking about studying here our ASC team can help. You can speak to our advisers about financial support, your future plans and career goals.

Our specialist staff offer drop-in sessions for quick queries or appointments for more in-depth chats.

    If you’re struggling with a personal, emotional or mental health issues, counselling could help.

    Personal Counselling

    Get in touch to talk to our professionally trained Counsellor in a confidential setting. Talking about how you are feeling may enable you to make changes in your life or help you to come to terms with things that you can't change.

    Our College Counsellor will listen so you are able to share any worries - expressing how you feel may help if you are feeling isolated. If appropriate, you may also discuss other agencies or services that may be helpful.

  • Careers and course guidance

    Our specialist advisers are here to give practical help on career planning, university level study options and applying for jobs.

    We offer 'drop-in' sessions with an IAG Practitioner for quick queries. You can also arrange a longer appointment, if you need more detailed advice. Qualified and experienced specilist staff, offer imparital guidance on the following:

    • Help to identify your preferred course and study options
    • Preparation for your course and work placement interviews
    • Course progression and career planning
    • Help with a variety of employability skills including: CV writing, letter writing, application forms, job interview techniques, labour market information
    • Preparing for University including: Applying via UCAS, personal statements, UCAS extra, UCAS clearing

  • Learner Development Co-ordinator (LDC)

    Our LDC designs and delivers tutorial sessions and can provide advice, information and support on a range of issues, including:

    • Substance Issues (drugs, alcohol, smoking)
    • Healthy Lifestyles
    • Relationships, Sex and Contraception
    • Staying Safe
    • Safeguarding Issue & Bullying.

    Personal Support

    The LDC can provide one to one support on a rage of academic and welfare issues, however the LDC is not a counselling service, but a listening, advocacy and where appropriate a sign posting service.  They can provide support on a range of issues including:

    • Academic or Disciplinary Issues
    • Substance Misuse including Smoking Cessation
    • LGBTQ+ and Gender Identity
    • Bullying
    • Access to free sanitary products 

    Contraception and Sexual Health (CASH)

    • The LDC runs the college’s confidential C-Card scheme that is accessible to all students under the age of 25 years.
    • The LDC also offers a pregnancy testing and support service for students but this is by appointment only.
    • STI Screening
    • Referral to emergency contraception and other CASH/GUM services where appropriate.
