Here at New College Durham we really promote volunteering as an extra-curricular opportunity. We have students’ who have gone to the Himalaya’s, taught in Kenya and made tea in Brandon – the opportunities are that diverse!
Peer mentors are students who offer a befriending and support service to students in the College. Peer mentors receive full training and on-going support throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming a peer mentor please click here.
The Students’ Union and the Learner Development Co-ordinator facilitate the College Volunteer Programme. The College Volunteers are students who get involved in helping out at our many College events. So, if you fancy helping at advice and information events or working with children and young people from schools across the region the “College Volunteer” is the role for you. Please contact the Students’ Union directly for further information or fill in one of our postcards and place in the box outside the Students’ Union Office or click here.
Throughout the year we advertise lots of volunteering opportunities throughout County Durham, we also use www.do-it.org.uk to find specialist volunteering opportunities for students, which is a national database of volunteering opportunities.
