County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) will open applications for firefighter apprentices on Monday 20th April at 10am.
CDDFRS are looking to recruit a minimum of 10 firefighter apprentices to embark upon a unique programme, encompassing, Business Fire Safety, Operational Training and Operational Response (on successful completion of initial training).
The successful candidates will also be given the chance to work in many areas of the organisation gaining an insight into the Service’s statutory responsibilities and day to day operations.
There are no formal qualifications required to enter upon this apprenticeship programme however candidates without English and Maths at Grade C or above must achieve a Level 2 equivalent standard in both prior to the completion of year 1 of the Apprenticeship.

The Service will also provide basic training in operational firefighting.
The qualification will be achieved through work-based evidence and on average one day per week in college to work towards the standards.
The firefighter apprenticeships are open to anyone who will be 17 or over on 14th September 2020.
