This intermediate course will prepare you for further study or a career in the dynamic business administration sector.

This course combines study with learning on-the-job. You will attend college on a day-release basis while employed and working as an apprentice administrator

Former student Katie Bulmer-Cooke visited the college as part of Enterprise Day.

Aims

Apprenticeships are a mixture of work based learning and education, which includes the following elements: -
  • Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Business and Administration
  • Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration (which is often referred to as a technical certificate)
  • Functional Maths Level 1
  • Functional English Level 2

Delivery

You will work for a minimum of 30 hours per week, plus take part in training for approximately 1 day. The exact working and training hours will be dependent upon the needs of the employer.

Teaching & assessment

The assessment process for an NVQ qualification is ongoing throughout the course. You are required to build up a portfolio of evidence, which is assessed internally and also externally verified by OCR. Assessment takes place in the workplace and in College.

In addition to the NVQ qualification, you will be studying for Key Skills qualifications and Technical Certificates which are exam based.

You could progress to Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Business Administration with New College Durham.
