You will be introduced to a wide range of creative skills used within the various media industries. You will have the opportunity to explore creative techniques and processes including operating digital cameras (video and photography based), audio/sound equipment, and editing software.

You will work on projects both independently and in within groups to develop the teamwork and communication skills necessary to work within the industry.

The creative and technical course is designed to stretch and challenge those who are looking to progress into a career in the digital audio or visual production industry. You will have the opportunity to explore creative techniques and processes, and will develop your camera, audio and lighting skills.

This exciting qualification will allow you to develop and test your creativity. You will be provided with the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to progress to degree level study or employment.

Teaching & assessment

Assessments will test both your practical and theoretical knowledge and skills. The study programme will prepare you for employment through work placements and live briefs.

You will undertake 70 hours of structured work experience, to develop your skills and knowledge in a relevant area. This could include anything that involves working in an environment that focuses on producing TV, film, audio or photography.

You could progress to Level 3 Media Production at New College Durham.

Entry Criteria

In order to access this course, you must possess four GCSE’s grade A-D/9-3. This must include English and maths at a minimum grade of Functional Skills Level 1.
