Overview

The course introduces more complex accounting tasks such as preparing accounts for sole traders and partnerships from a trial balance.

It also covers decision making for management by analysing the costs and revenues of a business and introduces accounting for VAT.

If you are aged 16-19 and wish to complete this qualification, you must do so as part of an apprenticeship programme.

Aims

This qualification is designed to enable you to master complex accounting disciplines, including financial processes, advanced bookkeeping, final accounts and ethical practices for accountants.

Delivery

Day and time of study will be confirmed before the start of your course.

Teaching & assessment

You will complete five computer-based examinations throughout the academic year. These are set and marked by the AAT.

Professional body registration:

Completion of this qualification provides students with an opportunity to be registered as a qualified bookkeeper, or progress on to Professional level and become a full member of AAT upon achieving the associated membership criteria.

Placement:

There is no formal requirements for you to undertake a work placement, however, it is preferable that you are employed within an accounting or finance role. A work placement will provide you with a great opportunity to develop your skills in a real working environment.

The course fees include AAT membership and the cost of sitting the exam. There will be an additional fee for text books or any re-sits for the exam.
