Develop the technical skills needed to work on garment design, styling, marketing and individualised garment ranges. You will learn how to use industry standard tools and software to help make your designs come to life, such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
The course contains practical sessions and exciting projects for you to explore and express your creativity and individual style.
Entry Criteria
You will hold a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 4 (or above).
This will include maths and English, as well as an art & design and/or design & technology qualification.
Additional Costs
You will be asked to make a contribution of £30 to cover resources, trips and visits.

Study Aims
This fashion communication and design course aims to prepare you with the practical skills and knowledge to work in the sector.

You will be fully supported throughout the programme. Teaching will be a combination of the following:

You will be assessed through completion of a portfolio, as well as assignments and exams.
Industry Links
Your tutors will have first-hand experience of the industry and will continue to build links with professionals. You will benefit from industry professionals sharing their expertise in the sector as guest speakers and to deliver bespoke workshops.
Placement
We work collaboratively with industry and have a dedicated Work Experience team who will support you to find work experience opportunities and placements. We will also support you to source your own placements.
Placement opportunities and live client briefs will provide you with an insight into how the industry operates and how your skills will be applied in the world of work.
You could progress to FdA Visual Arts at New College Durham or a relevant degree at university. You could also choose to secure a job in the industry.
