This higher apprenticeship is developed with The Healthcare Science (HCS) Associate to support the work of HCS Practitioners and Clinical Scientists to perform high quality and safe diagnostics, as well as monitoring technical and scientific procedures from conception to end of life.
Job roles are typically within hospitals, general practice and other settings in the healthcare sector, and across all areas of HCS.
You will learn how to perform a wide range of routine technical and scientific procedures, with minimal supervision, for one of the divisions in the HCS.
You will follow specific protocols, in accordance with health, safety, governance and ethical requirements. The clinical scientific environment will determine the context of the HCS Associate work roles.
Entry Criteria
You must have achieved a Level 2 in maths and English prior to completing the assessment gateway.
You must also hold a Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant qualification.

You End Point Assessment (EPA) will include a:

- Professional Practice Test
- Professional Discussion
You can progress to a relevant Level 6 qualification.
Alternatively, you could secure employment in clinical and medical laboratories, clinical biochemistry, haematology, tissue banking, phlebotomy, physical sciences, pathology and health infomatics.
