Portfolio building day at the Baltic
Our art and design students attended a trip to the Baltic for a portfolio building day. They had the opportunity to meet art practitioners from a range of different disciplines, such as textiles, fashion, fine art, illustration and graphic design.
The students were given advice on what is expected from an art and design portfolio, and given examples of good practise. They got involved in numerous fun activities and workshops in digital photography, textiles and fine art.
This was followed by a sketchbook making activity which was delivered by an artist with work displayed in the Baltic. It was a great activity to introduce students to working practises of artists and designers. The workshops offered students the opportunity to get advice and guidance on professional practise in a fun and informal environment.
Feedback from students confirmed the trip was a success - they are looking forward to learning more about art practise themes.
