World class drummer visits HE Music students

World class drummer and educator, Paul Elliott, visited New College Durham to spend the day with our HE Music students.

The day involved Paul discussing his commission based work within music education, and delivering a fantastic drum master class. The students thoroughly enjoyed the lead instrument demonstration, and developed high level drum techniques.

It was a pleasure to have the renowned drummer join us. Paul has performed with, and taught, the very finest musicians and drummers, such as Frank Gambale, Stu Hamm and Shaun Baxter.

Our music department believe it is important for our students to be introduced to industry practitioners. We aim to give our students the opportunity to gain invaluable insight into the music performance and business industry.

Phil Richardson, HE Music Programme Leader, commented: “Paul is an outstanding musician. I have had the pleasure of working alongside him on several projects and know first-hand the wealth of experience and expertise he can pass on to students. We were delighted to have Paul join us for the day, and look forward to his return.”
