Helping the homeless this Christmas

Our Podiatry Society held a bake sale in aid of the society and the College of Podiatry’s nominated charity, Crisis. Crisis is a charity that works side by side with homeless people to help them rebuild their lives.

The Podiatry Students raised £275 and have donated 20% (£55) to Crisis. Alongside the bake sale, students ran a Foot Health Stall which focused on how healthy your footwear really is. The aim of the event was to promote Podiatry and to give expert advice on how to choose footwear.

The event was successful in advising staff and students about a range of issues such as plantar fasciitis, ingrown toe nails and heel pain. Our Podiatry Society also held a charity appeal for all staff and students to donate new socks and good quality, second hand shoes and trainers for the homeless.

Level 6 Podiatry students will be delivering foot care to homeless people in Newcastle on Boxing Day. Our Students Union are also promoting their office as a drop off point if anyone would like to make a donation.
