Amsterdam Trip Inspires Art and Graphic Design Students
Our FdA Visual Arts and FdA Graphic Design students travelled to Amsterdam via ferry as part of an enrichment activity. Students visited Holland’s national film and television museum, ‘Eye’. This experience allowed students to explore a retrospective exhibition of films by Hungarian filmmaker, Béla Tarr. This proved a poignant and insightful experience with historical films exploring the plight of migrants juxtaposed with contemporary imagery from today.
A visit to ‘Foam’, Amsterdam’s museum for Photography, provided students with the opportunity to learn about traditional photographic processes, a contrasting medium to the digital photography that students have grown up with. Students found the notion of slowing down the photographic process intriguing – they were excited by the mystery of what a negative might hold.
Careers in art and design are about creating things that are appealing to the eye.
Working in the graphic design and media industry can help turn your imagination and originality into a career.
