Experience Headlam Hall Hotel
Hospitality, Events, Spa and Tourism Management students were offered the opportunity to visit Headlam Hall Hotel, a luxury independent 4 star country house close to Durham. This family owned and run 17th century country mansion stands in beautiful gardens surrounded by its own farmland.
As winner of the North East England Small Hotel of the Year 2009/10, visiting this hotel offered the students an excellent opportunity to experience high standards of accommodation and cuisine, combined with helpful and friendly service. Whilst at the hotel they were able to view the hotel bedrooms, conference facilities, golf academy, spa and hotel grounds. This was followed by a two course lunch served in one of the function rooms.
Not only were the students able to view the facilities but insight was also gained into the hotel's marketing and operational structure. Vital knowledge and experience of the hospitality industry was shared during an insightful talk from the hotels Operational Director.
David Smith, Course Leader, said: “The hotel provides the students a unique opportunity to examine how a 4 star hotel operates, offering access to an extraordinary amount of normally unobtainable information.”
Students have been offered an excellent opportunity to put forward their sales and marketing ideas to the hotel, many of which may be used in future promotional campaigns.
The tourism and events industry has a lot to offer graduates both in the UK and abroad.
