The region's top college for student satisfaction
New College Durham has the highest student satisfaction rate in the region according to the 2019 National Student Survey. 95% of higher education students stated that they were satisfied with the overall quality of their course at New College Durham which is the highest result amongst the universities and colleges in the North East. The figure is an impressive 12% greater than the higher education sector and the regional averages, and 5% higher than the nearest North East rival.
The National Student Survey is an annual survey which gives final year higher education students the opportunity to provide feedback about their experience on their course. 330,035 students from 403 universities, colleges and alternative providers took part in the survey which consists of 27 questions covering course teaching, learning opportunities, assessment and feedback, academic support, organisation and management and learning resources.
In each of the questions, the New College Durham results were significantly higher than both the higher education sector average and the regional average. Students rated the teaching on their courses at 96%, 12% above the national and regional average. Assessment and feedback also scored highly with a rating of 92%, 18% higher than the sector and regional average. 89% of New College Durham students said that they felt part of a community of staff and students which was an impressive 21% above both the sector and regional average.
