Celebrating excellent A-Level results
After anxiously waiting for their A-Level results, the Sixth Form Centre students at New College Durham discovered they had no need to worry. Today the college has received an impressive set of A-Level results enabling students to be accepted onto top university courses.
The hard work of students and staff has led to a staggering 100% pass rate in 16 subjects including A-Level Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, English Literature, History Geography, Law and Sociology. With an overall pass rate of 98% the majority of students now look forward to studying at university.
New College Durham Sixth Form students Sarah Lisgo and Poppy Whitworth are looking forward to starting their university courses having performed well at A-Level. Sarah, age 18 from Washington, who achieved A* A A, will study English Literature at York University and Poppy Whitworth age 19 from Durham who achieved A A A, will study BioMedicine at Newcastle University.
Jon Ridley, Head of Sixth Form, said: “This year’s excellent pass rate reflects the hard work and commitment of the students over the past two years and the dedication of our expert teaching staff. We wish our students every success as they now embark on their next step.”
Every September the Sixth Form Centre at New College Durham attracts over 150 young people from across the region. In addition to A-Levels, the college also offers over 60 full-time vocational courses, a wide range of Apprenticeships, and over 50 higher education and professional qualification programmes.
It’s not too late to enrol for A-Levels for this September. Visit the college anytime between 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am – 4.00pm Friday throughout the summer. Students can also start enrolling for courses starting in September 2016.
