New College Durham Ranked In The Top 10% In The UK

The latest figures from the DfE National Achievement Rate Tables have confirmed that New College Durham is one of only three Colleges across the whole of the UK to feature in the top 10% for both Education and Training Achievement and Apprenticeship Achievement. The College is the only North East Regional College to achieve this accolade.

Timely achievement rates measure the number of students who passed their course within a short time of completing their studies. 90% of our students secured a timely achievement which places us proudly in the top 10% of best performing colleges in the country.

In addition to this fantastic result, our Apprenticeship provision secured a timely achievement rate of 78% which is well above the national average, and also places us in the top 10% of colleges nationally.

There was more good news, as the National Achievement Rate Tables also ranked the College sixth nationally for its 19+ education provision, firmly cementing New College Durham’s position as one of the top performing colleges in the region.

John Widdowson, Principal and Chief Executive of New College Durham, said:

“We’re delighted to see that our achievement rates place us amongst the very best performing providers for further education in the country. Once again it is a fantastic achievement by our students and recognises the commitment and hard work of our support staff and teaching staff. New College Durham has consistently been ranked as one of the highest performing colleges both regionally and nationally and we will endeavour to maintain these high standards and continue to offer our students every opportunity to achieve and progress."

Over 200 colleges and providers from across England are included in the DfE National Achievement Rate Tables 2017 to 2018 which is used to track performance and student progression across a number of categories.
