Course: Computing and Networking
Previous School: New College Durham
Anthony Kay first came to the College to study a further education programme before progressing onto higher education. Following his previous experience at the College, he knew that the curriculum staff would ensure he got the best experience here at higher education level.
“The staff seemed more interested in you as an individual rather than wanting you to study to get an extra number on their course. The tutors were laid back, relaxed and monitored our progress through regular meetings.
"New College Durham gave students the opportunity to achieve professional qualifications as well as academic qualifications due to the content of the course. There is always somewhere available where students can study whether they need a quiet area or an environment to discuss work in groups”.
Anthony was impressed by the facilities at New College Durham, and was actively involved in extra activities across the College.
Anthony secured full-time employment within a prestigious law firm in the North East as a member of the IT Support team just months after completing his foundation degree. Anthony now plans to develop his skills into working within network security, something which he feels his time at New College Durham prepared him for.
Computing and IT is one of the fastest-moving and most dynamic sectors in the UK.
