Course: A-Levels - History, Geography, Psychology & EPQ
Previous school: Park View School
Cathrine described her time at New College Durham as outstanding, helpful and inspiring. She was involved in the Sixth Form Centre’s student representative programme, which helped improve her communication skills.
She said: “I wanted to study at New College Durham because of the wide range of A-Level subjects I could take and to move on from school life. The college's modern look and other facilities also drew me in, especially Costa Coffee.
“I liked the sense of independence that I had at New College Durham as it prepared me for my time at university. However, my tutors were always there if I ever needed some extra help. Having smaller classes meant a rapport could be built with your tutors easier making you feel much more comfortable in college.
“The best thing about the course was that the tutors did everything they could to help me with my next steps in life. My tutor was such a big help when I was applying to university and really helped me understand UCAS and write my personal statement.
“The campus was very modern and had a great atmosphere. There was somewhere for everyone in the college, whether it was the quiet area in the library or Starbucks.”
Cathrine is now studying psychology at the University of Sunderland.
A-Levels will enable you to study academic subjects in more depth.
