Gustave Die

Course: Performing Arts (Dance)

Previous school: Parkside Sports College

Gustave felt welcome at New College Durham - the fact the campus was easy to get to was just a bonus! He said his course was very well organised and there was always support available.

He said:

“I couldn’t pinpoint my favourite thing about New College Durham; the people, tutors, surroundings and facilities all made my experience at the college fantastic!

“Communication is key in performing arts. The students in my group and the tutors got on really well, and therefore communicated effectively.

I loved representing the college in external and internal performances. I developed a better understanding of the industry.

The facilities were totally fantastic, I spent a lot of my time in the gym and the dance studio.

“Since leaving New College Durham, I have been involved in a lot of commercial work including a backing dancer for Zara Larsson when she performed at the BBC Music Awards, performing at Move It, the UK’s biggest dance event, and at Wembley Arena. I have also done some modelling.

Gustave is now studying at The Urdang Academy, a performing arts academy in London. He has also secured his first professional job in musical theatre.

We caught up with Gustave for an update on what he has been doing since leaving New College Durham and completing his course at The Urdang Academy.

In between various modelling jobs - with the likes of Adidas - Gustave has been on the UK and European tour of Thriller Live Musical. He then got selected to be a backing dancer for The Bodyguard UK and International Tour, starring Alexander Burke as Rachael Marran.

He said:

"Touring with The Bodyguard was amazing! By far the best tour I've done so far. I can't wait to get back on the road. I feel blessed to have been involved in the shows and really enjoy modelling - I've changed my hair up recently!"
