Heather attended several sixth form open days before instantly falling in love with New College Durham.
“I knew where I wanted to study as soon as I walked into New College Durham. The atmosphere was so friendly and the range of subjects you could study at A-Level really appealed to me.
“I really liked that the teachers were respectful and treated me as an adult. I enjoyed the freedom and that I could choose to study at home or in the library in free periods. Alongside my course, the college provided a vibrant social life as the variety of courses on campus meant that there were people with many different interests which made the college a fun place to be.
“I feel that the education I got whilst studying at New College Durham has been instrumental to my studies at Durham University. I’m working towards a Biology Master’s degree and truly believe New College Durham prepared me for the method of learning at university.
“New College Durham emphasised the importance of home study rather than hours and hours of sitting in a class room, but at the same time the teachers delivered material in a clear and understandable way that made lessons interesting and memorable. This prepared me greatly for university where most of my studies are carried out independently, away from my lectures.”
Heather progressed to Durham University and is now working towards a Biology Master’s degree.
A-Levels will enable you to study academic subjects in more depth.
