Kate Mottershead

Course: BSc (Hons) Podiatry

Previous school: Wrekin College

Kate liked the idea of getting involved in a real-working clinic. She recognised this would provide her with invaluable experience and would help her pursue her dream career in podiatry.

She said:

“I decided to study at New College Durham because I liked the fact it was a small institution but offered fantastic facilities. Lessons tended to be quite relaxed and informal because the classes were small. I preferred this as it put me at ease if I had a question.

“It was refreshing to be taught by someone who was truly passionate about what they were teaching. I couldn’t fault the tutors, they were very knowledgeable and supportive throughout.

“I relished in the opportunity to apply my knowledge whilst working in the clinics. I believe this really helped me to develop the skills and knowledge I use now in my business. Studying at New College Durham was hard work, hands-on and fabulous. It really set me up for starting my own business. Being self-employed as a podiatrist is fantastic, I love what I do and I can’t wait to grow my business.”

Kate started her own business and is now self-employed as a Podiatrist.
