Megan Hughes

Course: A-levels - Biology, Chemistry and Pychology
Previous School: Tanfield School

Megan described her time at New College Durham as fantastic, friendly, and challenging (in a good way!).

She said: “Before I decided to come here I attended an open evening and was impressed by the immaculate facilities, friendly staff as well as other current students and the pass rates of their courses compared to other colleges in the North East.

“What I can remember most vividly about studying at New College Durham was the friendly atmosphere in which I was taught. My lecturers and tutors were very down-to-earth, pushed me to work at the best of my ability and believed in me when I did not believe in myself.

“I enjoyed the variety of teaching methods that were used in lessons. There were many interactive activities which encouraged us to use our knowledge and to apply ourselves.”

Megan turned down a place at Hull University to work as an Applied Science Apprentice at Durham University.
