Rebecca Goldsworthy

Course Studied: Level 3 in Art and Design
Previous School:
Belmont Community School

Rebecca chose the National Diploma in Art and Design at New College Durham as this creative course gave her the opportunity to explore many different aspects of art and design, allowing her to discover the career path she wanted to take in the future.

Rebecca said: “The staff at the College were always there to listen, they were inspiring and shared knowledge of personal experiences; they believed we could perform and do well. The course tasters offered in my first year, including fine art, textiles and ceramics, allowed me to develop my interests and skills so I could specialise in the second year. I chose fashion and textiles which taught me many things from papermaking to completing a functioning corset. The course was broad and always kept me excited”.

After completing her course at New College Durham, Rebecca went on to study Knitwear Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University.  After which she moved to London where she carried out multiple internships in the fashion industry. She was offered the fantastic opportunity to take part in a New York placement, where she was the HOD of fashion, hair and make up for MTV Alive at Viacom.

Rebecca has experienced fantastic and exciting opportunities in life since gaining skills at New College Durham, her current position is Junior Fashion Assistant at global online fashion retailer ASOS.
