BSc (Hons) Cyber Security (Top-up)

Jake-John was interested in the modules and teaching style offered at NCD University Centre.

 He said:

“At the time, NCD was one of the only colleges offering a degree in Cyber Security. The modules interested me as well as the teaching style. I decided to move to the North East from Portsmouth to experience a different city, and can credit NCD as it helped me succeed as my degree and seeing the North East.

“The campus has many resources available, and the college not only helps you study but also cares about your wellbeing. NCD is always looking to develop its facilities to provide a better experience for its students.

“Going to university can feel lonely as it takes more to make new friends and reach out to people. At New College Durham I became friends with people quickly and this support can be the difference between completing a degree and dropping out. The people on my course were very supportive and throughout the three years we developed our knowledge and skills together, and had a good laugh on the way. I was also involved in the Malta Turing programme which was a great educational and social experience.

“I returned to education because I became aware that a degree would open so many doors and it really has. I wouldn’t be in my current job role without my degree.”

Jake-John is currently a Technical Early Careers graduate for DXC Technology, and is on the right track to become a Technical Consultant.
