    What will the bootcamp cover?

    This Skills Bootcamp will provide you with the vital skills needed to build on an existing understanding of the features and protocols involved within local area networks (LAN), to enable job entry at a higher level or enable non-digital businesses to upskill existing staff to enable digital adoption. You will gain a Level 5 module.

    You will develop transferable skills which are highly valued by employers, including:

    Personal planning and development will be embedded, supported by vocationally specific industry representatives who will support with wider skills development including job search and interview skills.

    What will the bootcamp cover?

    Directing for TV and Film’ is a level 3 equivalent, non-regulated programme with the aim of upskilling people employed in the TV and Film industries, to move into more senior roles.  

    • Learn about the roles and responsibilities of a director in TV and Film and other related industries. 
    • Practice the skills of a director including working with actors, casting, blocking, rehearsing and on-set etiquette.  
    • Understand requirements for time-keeping, budgets, health and safety, paperwork and legal and ethical considerations. 
    • Consider and experiment with creative techniques, story-telling, narrative and character development.

    The world of TV and Film include many roles and responsibilities and has a plethora of opportunities for all.  The industry is a very tightly knit community, and opportunities are often available to those who work already within the sector.  A high proportion of North East work is commissioned from agencies based out of region, such as Manchester and London, our links are well established already within these markets, and reputation high.

    What will the bootcamp cover?

    This 60-hour programme has been designed to suit a variety of learners, including ex-offenders, unemployed, under-employed and part time employed. The learners will gain crucial skills and working experiences, utilising tools that they will be expected to be familiar with in surroundings equivalent to that within a Spectator Safety and Security capacity within the TV/Screen/Stage/Music arena. 

    The world of Events, including TV and Film Media utilise Security and Events staff when ‘on location’ and has a plethora of opportunities for all.    Safety and Security teams are crucial to on location shooting, and that of stage and music events, being part of a reputable agency and having robust knowledge and training with industry work tickets and licences is vital for continued work within this sector.  

    Programme Outline 

    This is a 60-hour programme delivered part time within Newcastle East, Newcastle West and Northumberland.  The core elements, all delivered by industry experts, include:
