Early Years Apprentice

To take full responsibility of providing children in your care with every opportunity to explore, learn and develop, independently and with support. To ensure that every child in your care is happy and able to join in, explore and learn.

To take ownership of the development of your key children, monitoring their progress directly including daily observations and regular measurable assessments, ensuring that every child meets or exceeds their anticipated developmental milestones.

To ensure that Partnership with Parents is driven through every aspect of the care and development of your key children, ensuring that you communicate with parents to identify learning at home and to work with the parents in extending that learning.  To carry out joint regular assessments with parents and to identify and agree any causes for concern and suitable interventions.

To ensure that all documentation relating to a child’s development is presented professionally, is up to date and is effective in demonstrating the child’s learning journey on their own and as part of their group.

To work as part of a team, supporting and showing respect to other professionals.  Acting as a role model to visitors and students present.

To work as part of a team, maintaining effective two-way communication, including attending and taking part in team meetings.

To take responsibility for own professional development by maintaining and updating knowledge and practice, including safeguarding and First Aid.

To be aware of and to reflect in practice all nursery policies.

To behave professionally at all times, maintaining the high reputation of the nursery (including communication via social networking).

To maintain confidentiality of children, parents and other professionals at all times.
