Apprentice joiner

Kick-start your career in joinery with a hands-on Level 2 Joinery Apprenticeship. Learn both bench and site joinery, manufacturing bespoke items in our workshop before installing them on-site, while working towards your qualification at New College Durham.

Fryers Ltd are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Joinery Apprentice to join their experienced team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop practical skills in both bench and site joinery while working towards a Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship at New College Durham.

Working alongside skilled joiners, you will gain experience in manufacturing bespoke joinery products from technical drawings before installing them on-site for commercial clients.

Your duties will include:

Manufacturing bespoke joinery items from designer drawings.

Assisting with bench joinery in our fully equipped workshop.

Learning to laminate and finish bespoke products.

Installing door frames, doors and fire doors.

Fitting door closers, ironmongery and other hardware.

Installing wall panelling and shelving.

Fitting kitchen units.

Installing bespoke items such as bars and back fittings.

Working on-site alongside experienced joiners.

Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.

Learning safe use of woodworking machinery and hand tools.

Supporting the team on a variety of commercial projects from manufacture through to installation.

This is a varied role offering experience across all aspects of joinery, giving you an excellent foundation for a long-term career in the construction industry.

  • Training

    Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship Standard ( Site Carpenter pathway if applicable).

    Day release training at New College Durham.

    Functional Skills in English and Maths (if required).

    Full on-the-job training from experienced joiners covering both workshop manufacturing and on-site installation techniques.

    Ongoing support from your college assessor and employer throughout your apprenticeship.
