The Training and Skills Development Team connects people, businesses and opportunity, helping employers develop the skilled workforce they need while creating pathways for individuals to learn, progress and succeed.

We work closely with employers across the North East and beyond to understand their workforce challenges and develop responsive training and skills solutions shaped around the needs of industry. Whether a business wants to upskill its existing workforce, recruit new talent, address skills shortages or access funded training, our experienced team can help identify the right solution.

Through significant regional and national funding programmes, we create opportunities for thousands of people to gain new skills, achieve industry-relevant qualifications and progress into employment or within their careers. Our portfolio includes Skills Bootcamps, Adult Skills Fund programmes and other targeted employment and skills initiatives designed to respond to emerging economic and workforce priorities.

Working in partnership

Collaboration is central to everything we do. We work with an extensive network of employers, specialist training providers and strategic partners, enabling us to respond quickly to skills needs across sectors including construction, engineering and manufacturing, green industries, digital, health and social care, early years, logistics and many more.

By combining New College Durham’s expertise with the specialist knowledge of our partners, we can deliver flexible, high-quality training at scale while maintaining a strong focus on quality, outcomes and progression.
